“The New Zealand Government has taken up an offer to look under
the bonnet of Microsoft’s Windows operating system.

“It is the seventh government outside the US to be granted
controlled, free access to Windows’ source code–Microsoft’s crown
jewels–under the company’s Government Security Program (GSP).

“GSP was unveiled in January in a bid to alleviate concerns
about software security and, analysts believe, to counter the
penetration of open source rival Linux in the government
market…”
