Sun Works With Linux Community to Deliver JDK 1.2 Port for Linux; Sun Commits To Linux Users

Sun Microsystems, Inc. today announced its support of the Linux
developer community to port the popular Java(TM) Development Kit
(JDK(TM)) 1.2 to Linux.

This port will enable Java technology-based applications to run
on the Linux operating system.

“We are delighted to support the Linux community in the delivery
of a JDK 1.2 port for Linux,” said Jon Kannegaard, vice president
and general manager of the Java platform at Sun Microsystems,
Inc.’s Java Software.
