A lot of things have changed on the Linux Planet since 2009, when SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 first debuted. Today SUSE announced the general availability of SUSE Linux Enterprise 12 and it builds in new technologies and provides users with up to 13 years of extended support.

The very first line of the what’s new section in the release notes for SUSE Linux Enterprise 12 is not about new features, but rather it’s about security – and specifically the recently disclosed ShellShock BOURNE shell vulnerability.
