Christian Egle writes:

As a special service, SuSE now offers new RPM packages of the latest
release (1.0.x) of the desktop enviroment GNOME (GNU Network Object
Model Environment).

The GNOME project intends to build a complete, user-friendly desktop based
entirely on free software. The desktop will consist of small utilities
and larger applications which share a consistent look and feel. GNOME
uses GTK+ as the GUI toolkit for all GNOME-compliant applications.

Further information about GNOME can be found on the GNOME homepage at

    http://www.gnome.org

The new packages can be found at:

    ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse_update/GNOME

This directory contains the following packages:

    - GNOME base system (Libraries and Utilites)

    - GNOME applications like:

    - additional Libraries that are necessary to run GNOME

Please try to use an ftp-mirror server to download these packages.
A list of available mirrors can be found here:

Please note, that these packages are only intended for updating a SuSE
Linux 6.x and that SuSE does not grant installation support for them!

Have a lot of fun!
