Sydney Morning Herald: Democrats to Introduce Open Source Bill Next Week

“The Australian Democrats will introduce a bill in the Senate
next week, seeking to require all agencies governed by it to
procure and use open source software in preference to proprietary
software, wherever practicable.

“Democrats IT spokesman Senator Brian Greig said the bill was
intended to focus the attention of both parliamentarians and the
media on Open Source software and enunciate a policy with which the
Democrats were comfortable…”
