Sydney Morning Herald: Open Source Advocacy Group Set Up in Victoria

“Victoria now has its own Open Source advocacy group. Open
Source Victoria will aim to educate the State’s business and
government leaders about the benefits of using Open Source software
for both server and desktop environments, Con Zymaris, one of the
main people behind the group, said today.

“He said the group would meet the need for a state-level
organisation to provide information to small or large corporate or
state government bodies which were looking to move from proprietary
solutions but had no idea about the alternatives on offer.

“Information about alternatives would be free, with both the
pros and cons listed. If there was further interest, then a list of
vendors who could offer the services would be provided…”
