“xPUD is based on Ubuntu, with ideas borrowed from Damn Small
Linux. What sets it apart from other distros is a new, experimental
web-based user interface, called Plate, which integrates the
Mozilla Gecko runtime into the desktop. The result reminds me of
some of the desktops designed specifically for netbooks as seen in
Moblin, Android, and Ubuntu Netbook Remix. Plate is touted as being
very easy to use. Another goal for xPUD is a very fast boot
time.”
