TechCentral: Have National Open Source Policy, Govt Urged

“The Government has been urged to introduce a national open
source policy and take other concrete steps to drive the Open
Source Software (OSS) movement forward in Malaysia.

“Malaysian Open Source Group founding member Dr Nah Soo Hoe said
the Government has made significant moves to explore the use of
OSS, which has provided the impetus for the growing movement in
this country.

“‘The Government has voiced its support for OSS; even the Prime
Minister has spoken on the matter,’ Nah said at the LinuxWorld
Malaysia 2003 conference here on Tuesday.

“However, he said, the Government needs to initiate further
steps to encourage the wider use of OSS…”
