TechCentral: Linux: Universities Should Lead

“Local universities have a big part to play in driving the
adoption of the open source Linux operating system in Malaysia,
according to IBM Malaysia Sdn Bhd’s software division country
manager, Hong Kok Cheong.

“‘Education is still a problem for Linux. A lot of developers
here are keen to work on Linux but don’t know how to go about it,’
he said.

“‘The key to educating the public lies in institutions of higher
learning, which are currently not teaching their students enough
about Linux and the open source movement,’ he claimed…”
