Server 51 was Freshmeat’s answer to Sourceforge, and was a
significant development site for many projects.

“At the time Freshmeat got bought out by VA Linux, there was
speculation that Server 51 would be quietly killed, as Sourceforge
is also run by VA.”

“However, there were reassurances posted on Slashdot that this
wouldn’t happen, and Server 51 went quietly running on.”
