system is about to get fitted with a Tux, so to speak.”

“BEA Systems on Thursday will offer a version of its Tuxedo
distributed transaction processing software and WebLogic
application server for Red Hat Linux 5.2. The move underscores how
the Linux OS is gaining mindshare in IT organizations.”

“Anne Thomas, an analyst at Boston’s The Patricia Seybold Group,
is not surprised companies are considering Linux for
mission-critical applications. “If they are willing to run
mission-critical applications on [Windows] NT, I can’t see why they
wouldn’t be willing to run them on Linux because Linux is much more
stable than NT,” she said.”
