“The company stepped up its assault on the Linux market with a
blockbuster offer to charge no licensing fee for the new Linux
version of Unicenter TNG under a 90-day introductory offer.”
“The special offer amounts to a savings of several hundred
thousand dollars for a business running 100 Linux servers, CA
executives said. It requires the same annual maintenance and
support contract CA charges for other operating system
environments, which comes to about $35,000 in a 100 server
environment, the executives said at CAWorld ’99, in New
Orleans.”
“It’s a tremendous cost savings,” said CA senior vice president
of product strategy, Yogesh Gupta. “It’s phenomenal. We have never
done this on any platform before. We are excited about this — it’s
a huge opportunity.”
