TechWeb: Transmeta To Launch 1-GHz Crusoe This Year

“During his LinuxWorld presentation Thursday, Transmeta CEO Dave
Ditzel said the microprocessor startup will launch yet another
microprocessor later this year–the TM 5800, which will run at up
to 1 GHz while offering similar battery life and power-consumption
capabilities as its predecessors.”

“There are a number of companies working on a new breed of
servers with hundreds of [Crusoe] processors on a single rack,” he
said.”

“Ditzel added that the power consumption features of Crusoe
are in great demand, given the recent spate of power blackouts in
California.”
