“During his LinuxWorld presentation Thursday, Transmeta CEO Dave
Ditzel said the microprocessor startup will launch yet another
microprocessor later this year–the TM 5800, which will run at up
to 1 GHz while offering similar battery life and power-consumption
capabilities as its predecessors.”
“There are a number of companies working on a new breed of
servers with hundreds of [Crusoe] processors on a single rack,” he
said.”
“Ditzel added that the power consumption features of Crusoe
are in great demand, given the recent spate of power blackouts in
California.”
