TechWeb: Wait-and-see Approach — IT Managers Lukewarm On Windows 2000

“This may be the dilemma facing Microsoft Corp. as it tries to
convince large corporate customers to quickly embrace Windows 2000
because it is the way of the future, said chief information
officers and corporate information technology managers considering
the upcoming operating system release.”

“Corporate chief information officers evaluating Windows 2000
tell a similar tale: Their companies run Unix servers on the back
end, NetWare 4.11 as the network operating system and Windows NT on
application servers. Many are looking to replace NetWare with
Windows 2000 and expand their number of Windows application
servers. None, however, said they seriously plan to swap Unix for
Windows 2000.”
