“SciTech SNAP Graphics is a comprehensive video driver program
for the X Window system (and OS/2 and DOS, but I only tested the
GNU/Linux edition). The company designs their own graphics card
drivers and implements them through a program that combines with
XFree86 (version 4.02 or later) to maximize compatibility, ease of

First of all SNAP Graphics appeals to three wildly different
markets: the desktop end-user market, the enterprise market, and
the system integrator and embedded systems markets. Secondly I had
to research and develop my own way of testing 2D graphics
performance on a GNU/Linux system because the SPEC tests are all
for 3D and all of the benchmark programs that I found didn’t really
cover 2D in depth; thirdly, setting up the OEM and VESA drivers for
each video card was, for lack of a better term, pure hell…”
