The Salt Lake Tribune: Web Site: ‘Leaked’ SCO Letter Was Public Court Record

“The Feb. 4 letter, part of the discovery process in SCO’s
copyright lawsuit against IBM, has been widely distributed on the
Internet. In it, SCO provided IBM’s legal counsel information on
three companies Lindon-based SCO said had obtained Linux
licenses.

“Among them was software giant Computer Associates (CA), a
revelation that stunned the pro-Linux ‘open source’ advocates. CA
has been an ally in their efforts to keep the operating system
freely distributed.

“Initially, SCO spokesman Blake Stowell implicated IBM in
disclosing the document, an act he said undercut confidentiality
guarantees made earlier to CA and the two other named licensees,
Questar and Leggett & Platt…”
