TheLinuxGurus.org: Sendmail for Linux [Book Review]

“Sendmail is a mail transport agent available for Linux and a
wide variety of other platforms. It is probably the most common
mail transport agent in use toady. In fact, most email you send out
is probably touched by sendmail somewhere in route to its
destination. Sendmail ships with nearly all Linux distributions as
the default MTA. Sendmail has a well deserved reputation as being
extremely confusing to configure. In exchange for this complexity
you get versatility and robustness.”`

“…Now that I have told you what this book covers I will tell
you what this book is not. It is not in any way a reference on
sendmail. This may seem odd with a title of Sendmail for Linux. In
fact, this is my one major gripe about this book. It is an
excellent book, well written, well laid out, the topics are clear
and concise, but the title makes no sense what-so-ever. The
book should have been named Setting up a Linux E-Mail Server or
something similar. The book does not delve into the intricacies or
advanced configuration of Sendmail. However, it is an excellent
source of information on many email protocols and setting up and
installing a Linux box to be a general mail server.
