In February of 1999 the IDG LinuxWorld Expo was called “The
Official Coming Out Party” for the Linux Community. The was no
question that is was a down right religious experience.
But as
with previous Linux events, it was still essentially a Geek Thing.
However, the gauntlet was dropped that week, as many people
professed that 1999 would be remembered as “the Year of Linux.” It
has taken years for people to start to “Get It.” That “It” being
this muddy stew called Open Source.”

“This week we have seen a near miracle. Andover opens at $18.00
and is up 450% so far this week. Corel continues its strong
recovery from $4.50 a share in August to $45.00 a share today.
Cobalt is still out performing even the bravest analyst, and Red
Hat continues to soar in the stratosphere.”

“Now, Larry and the VA crew (sounds like a rap group) do an IPO
that STUNS virtually every market analyst. Mega kudos to the whole
VA team. You all share in the glory of what you have just
accomplished. A $299.00 opening bell price. Can you say “Ka Ching?”
My broker, a guy with 25 years experience said he has never
witnessed anything like it before in his life.”
