Tuesday, June 18th, 2002
from the home of Wayne’s World, Aurora IL
Tonight LIVE on www.thelinuxshow.com

At 6pm pt, 7pm mt, 8pm ct, and 9pm et…. Kevin Hill, Jeff
Gerhardt, Doc Searls (Linux Journal), Arne Flones and Russ
Pavlicek; have another strange and wonderful show lined up tonight
on The Linux Show!!

Segment One- The News. We will cover
THE HOT NEWS of the last few weeks tonight. In
particular, we will talk about lots of product releases (Gnome)
this past couple weeks (yes Microtel and Lindows), and of course,
the absurdity of Disney using Linux.

Segment Two- We Put The Contract Out on Steve
Ballmer
Our originally scheduled guest canceled due to
illness.

So Tonight we are going to have a little fun. We are asking that
listeners and IRC participants send us their emailed suggestions to
respond to Steve Ballmer putting (or better stated as leaving)
Linux on the Microsoft HIT LIST. Well Steve, turn
about is fair play so tonight we are putting out a contract on
Steve Ballmer.

This comment was covered last week by CNN at their web site with
the story
Ballmer: IBM, Linux, AOL Remain On Hit List As Sun Fades As
Threat
.

This comment is another in the ongoing series of Open
Mouth Insert Foot
comments by Microsoft’s President Steve
Ballmer. Ballmer made the bizare comment, “We used to be the cheap
guys. We were cheaper than Novell, cheaper than Oracle. We can’t do
that with this one,” referencing the competitive force that Open
Source is creating. When was Microsoft EVER
considered cheap??????

So we need a good way of responding to Ballmer. We want to put
out a contract on him, and do it in a legal and funny way. Help us
out with your suggestions.

Please join us on the show, and check our IRC
Chat(irc.thelinuxshow.com #linuxshow).
Remember tune in at 6pm pt, 7pm mt, 8pm ct, and 9pm et. NOTE: we
are now on Daylight Saving Time in the US.
