Virtualbox 3.0.2 bridged network bug workaround

“The new VirtualBox 3.0.2 has a nice and easy GUI
interface for bridge network setup.

“Compare with complex setup here, here, here, and you will
realize it was a BIG improvement at usability from older
versions.

“BUT it does not work at its defaults.

“Worse, it fails silently. Guest OS simply does not reach
outside network. No meaningful hardware or software error logs or
messages.”
