VNU NET: IBM announces space saving thin server

“IBM today unveiled its latest Netfinity server, which it claims
is the smallest Intel server on the market.”

“The Netfinity 4000R is the standard server width and depth, but
is just 1.75 inches thick. According to IBM, this enables the
placement of up to 42 two-way servers in a single 19-inch standard
rack.”

“The server, available this March, is aimed at Internet service
providers, application service providers, and organisations with
limited floor space.”

“Tikiri Wanduragala, senior Netfinity consultant for IBM Europe,
commented: “Size is everything, and in this case it’s better to
be small.
