“IBM earlier this week announced that it will target ASPs and
ISPs with additions to its Netfinity Intel-based server range,
using ease of integration as a hook.”

“Laurent Lachal, senior analyst for Ovum, said: ‘People don’t
have the time to put this type of high-end enterprise kit together
piece by piece. What IBM is doing here may just be repackaging, but
because it’s tailored for easy integrationb users will want it.’ He
went on to say that IBM is applying the strategy that it has
already used successfully with its AS400 server range to target the
upcoming ISP and ASP markets.”

“IBM will be bundling either Windows NT or any flavour of Linux
on the latest Netfinity servers. The company said it would be
pushing Linux as hard as NT because Linux is well established
in the ISP space.”
