Mad Penguin: Mandrake 10 – An Outstanding Effort

“There are so many great Linux desktop distributions available
today that it is almost overwhelming. The most incredible thing to
me is how far we have come in only a few years. It has only been
the past two years or so that we have seen some major innovations
on the desktop (and the server of course). Hardware compatibility
and detection, X Windows, and overall system performance
enhancements are a few of the more prominent advances that come to
mind, but there have obviously been so many more.

“On the forefront of these advances are a handful of
distributions: Red Hat, SUSE, and Mandrake Linux. Xandros is
another who is new to the game but gaining ground quickly. I know
everyone has their favorite distribution of Linux, but if we are
completely honest with ourselves we can all admit that every one of
these distributions have contributed something to the greater cause
known as ‘Desktop Linux.’ Which brings us to Mandrake Linux, the
reason for me writing this review in the first place…”
