“An open source, Web-based system developed by Google that
allowed people to create Android apps without having to know how to
code. Instead of writing code, the Android mobile app can be
visually designed with App Inventor.

“In August 2011, MIT opened its Center for Mobile Learning, to
focus on new mobile technology and applications that allow people
to study and learn from anywhere. One of the center’s first
activities is to extend and integrate App Inventor for Android to
MIT’s research in educational technology.”
