longer offer the ‘Install Other OS’ feature and remove it from
existing consoles with future software upgrades.

“In a swift decision Sony effectively put a price on one of its
user communities.

“Some people may say, “yeah, but Sony, like Microsoft, sells its
console at a loss and makes money on the games”.

“That remark could well be true from a financial perspective,
but it doesn’t take into account the immeasurable amount of free
publicity Sony was gaining from PS3 Linux users and their clusters.
Doesn’t ‘PS3 helps design energy efficient car’ have a nice ring to
it?”
