“Total Web servers worldwide jumped from just under 10 million
to 13 million for the latest quarter ended March 31, according to
Web research firm Netcraft. Linux went from 29 percent to 34
percent of Web servers OSs in market share, while market share for
all other major OSs declined — including Windows, Sun Solaris, and
other Unix variants.”

“Netcraft’s survey is proprietary to paying customers, and
details are available only by subscription. But general figures
in the latest survey show Linux currently posting 34 percent share,
Windows with 22.5 percent, Solaris with 20.7 percent, and “other”
systems — such as the various BSDs — with 21.2 percent.
