Xiphos: Free Software Bible Study for GNU/Linux and Windows

[ Thanks to Rex

“Christianity and GNU/Linux are not often spoken of in
the same sentence. One notable exception is the popular Ubuntu
Christian Edition GNU/Linux distribution. Ubuntu CE is a GNU/Linux
distribution designed specifically for church environments. It
includes the popular and ubiquitous free software packages such as
OpenOffice.org that are expected in a modern GNU/Linux distro. It
also includes free software packages geared towards church-based
users. Another popular free software package included with Ubuntu
CE is the free software Bible-study package known as Xiphos. I
downloaded it today to give it a test run. In this article, I will
give you my impressions of Xiphos.

“First of all, Xiphos is released under version two of the GNU
GPL license. This means that any revision to its source code must
be released under the same license. This is a wonderful choice
because it ensures that Xiphos will continue to be free software as
long as the religious community maintains an interest in it.”
