“Oracle and Sybase said Linux was emerging as an additional
platform for their traditional database product lines
at
LinuxWorld in San Jose, Calif., this week.”

“Oracle has created a 100-person-plus Linux division to focus on
engineering and marketing Oracle products for the open source code
operating system. … ‘We have 800 paying customers using Oracle on
Linux. Linux is our fastest-growing operating system,’ said Mark
Jarvis, senior vice president.”

“Sybase said its core product, Adaptive Server Enterprise
11.9.2, now runs under Linux and is available immediately.
…Enterprise Application Server 3.0 is scheduled to be available
under Linux in September. …sometime next year, Replication Server
12.0 will be available…”

“David Jacobsen, group manager of the Enterprise Server
Division, said there have been 55,000 downloads of Sybase
technology on Linux.”
