ZDNet UK: Ericsson releases open source e-commerce platform

“Ericsson’s release of fault-tolerant Web server software next
week is more than a entry into a new software market for the
telecomms infrastructure provider: it is one the boldest steps into
open source economics by any major corporate supplier.”

“Eddieware is being developed by a team of eight based at
Ericsson’s Software Engineering Research Centre in Melbourne,
Australia. The project to create a commercial grade fault-tolerant
server, could develop into the basis of an e-commerce platform,
Michael Rumsewicz, an engineer on the project, told IT Week.”
