“Earlier this year, IT Week undertook research with sponsorship
from Microsoft, to find out about IT managers’ server operating
system plans–desktops not included.“The results painted an interesting and, in some ways,
surprising picture. Even though the average organisation currently
employs 4.5 server operating systems, server consolidation was not
high on the list of priorities. In fact, more than half–54
percent–said they had no plans to consolidate systems in the
foreseeable future.
