“Corel’s exit from the Linux scene was expected and welcomed by
many analysts.”

“‘The Linux desktop marketplace in the U.S. has been a
non-starter for Corel,’ said Chris Le Tocq, an analyst with
technology research firm Gartner Interactive of Stamford, Conn.
‘Corel’s Linux strategy was a legacy of the Cowpland management,
and now they are shedding that legacy.”

“‘This new strategy makes a lot of sense,’ said Jean Orr,
analyst for New York-based Bluestone Capital. ‘Their lack of focus
has probably hindered their service to the existing customer base.
Plus, their best potential for growth is in the graphics market. I
never thought that the Linux operating system strategy would be a
money maker for them.'”
