Washington Times: Linux gaining support in Japan’s schools

To challenge the dominance of Microsoft’s Windows PC operating
system, Japan is promoting the Linux system in public schools.

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and 19 PC-related
companies including the NEC Corporation, Fujitsu and IBM Japan, are
promoting in schools the use of personal computers installed with
Linux, reported the Yomiuri Shimbun Thursday
