It’s been a while since we last heard from the Birds Linux project, but it looks like it’s still being developed for educational purposes, and today’s Birds Linux 10.0 release appears to be a major one that updates most of the pre-installed core components and applications to their latest versions. First thing first, the distro is now powered by a kernel from the latest Linux 4.10 series, version 4.10.11 at the moment of release, and the GNOME desktop environment was updated to the last point release of the GNOME 3.22 Stack. Unfortunately, the developer didn’t have the time to upgrade to GNOME 3.24 yet.
