CRN: Remedies Could Be Bitter Pill For Microsoft

“The U.S. Department of Justice requested a separate proceeding
to look into the issue of remedies should the government
prevail.”

“Former federal Judge Robert Bork wants a structural remedy for
Microsoft, a breakup of the company, though he said he does not
support government regulation.

“‘Frankly, I think between government regulation of the industry
and a Microsoft monopoly, I’m not sure which is worse. If you broke
them up, you wouldn’t regulate anymore…’ Bork said.”

“Bork predicted the possibility the judge will find some

“There is the argument that Microsoft should publicly disclose
its APIs. A more drastic measure would be to make Windows source
code openly available and adaptable like Linux, said industry
sources.”
