This is a report about which companies are contributing to WebKit, based on quantitative information from their repositories, and how much they are contributing in terms of commits to the source code. Curiously enough, Apple is (by a large margin) no longer the main contributor, and a significant share of contributions come from “new” companies. The first contributor, now Google, has also a much larger team of developers involved in the project. The report also finds thats the WebKit development community is more and more diverse, with more than 20 active companies per month, featuring also an increasing number of individual active developers. With respect to companies, in addition to Google and Apple, there are some other big names between the top ten, but also some small, specialized software development companies.
