AT&T joins the open source bandwagon by releasing the source
code of the DjVu Reference
Library. The library contains the entire decoder and a large
piece of the encoder. It is released under the AT&T Source Code License.
DjVu image files are 5 to 10 times smaller than JPEG for
high-resolution scanned documents, and about 2 times smaller than
JPEG for photographs.
