BSDI announced today that it will be including Linux binary
compatibility in it’s BSD/OS operating system.

They cite that this resolves the biggest barrier to widespread
adoption of Linux – the lack of a reliable operating system to run
their applications on.

They also mention that now people will be able to get support
for their Linux applications, citing that customers who are
concerned about the “communal support” channels of the Linux
community are not enough to bet their organization on.

No mention is made of the commercial support offerings of SuSE,
Caldera, Red Hat, and others.

“great technical support, reliability, and blazing OS
performance” are the reasons given for customers to use BSDI
instead of Linux.
