“Smallworldwide plc… the world’s leading provider of spatial
resource planning (SRP) software, today announced it has delivered
to its customers the first major revision of its flagship SRP
product, Smallworld 3, which was launched in October 1998.
Smallworld 3.1(0) incorporates components that expand its use
with Oracle databases and the Linux operating system, as well as
increased scalability and significantly improved
performance.“
“With greater functionality on Oracle and extended scalability,
Smallworld 3.1(0) moves spatial resource planning farther away from
niche geographic information systems and more closely integrates it
into the business enterprise,” said C. Warren Ferguson, CEO of
Smallworldwide.”
“Building on existing tools to bring the Smallworld and Oracle
environments together, Smallworld 3.1(0) adds Smallworld InSync On
Oracle, which uses two-way replication techniques to synchronize
different views of the corporate database, and provides secure
integration between design and enterprise-wide information systems.
Smallworld’s spatial object manager for Oracle Spatial brings the
recently launched Smallworld On Oracle Spatial tools up-to-date
with support for the Oracle 8i spatial object model. Both features
are an integral part of the Smallworld 3.1(0) core product.”
