The Open Object Directory Services group has started to meet on
a weekly basis to cover architectural topics for this exciting
system development.
Open Object Directory Services – Overview
The Open Object Directory Services (OODS) project aims to make
full-fledged open source object-based directory services into
reality. The project is a result of over a year of development time
invested in the Linux Knowledge Base Project (LKB) in which pseudo
directory services were attempted using PHP and MySQL. It
became apparent over time that the desired functionality simply
could not be achieved using the technology chosen at the time the
project was born. Although OODS is being spearheaded by members of
the LKB team, it is a very different project entirely and we
welcome anyone wishing to support an open source directory service
initiative.
You can visit the homepage of OODS to get the latest in news, system
developments, documentation, or join the mailing list.
The weekly meetings schedule are Mondays-8:30 PM EDT, generously
hosted by Seul.Org , just point
your chat client at cran.seul.org port 7776 , and join #oods to
participate.
