“Many IT managers today consider Linux the preferred server
operating system. However, in spite of its obvious success on the
server side, Linux has not yet managed to position itself as a
serious contender on the desktop. PC World Norway strongly believes
that this is in part due to the fact that Linux simply is not as
user-friendly as it needs to be in order to successfully challenge
Windows’ dominating position as a desktop operating system.
“However, recent developments in the Linux world have helped
Linux gain ground. Today, Microsoft’s leading position in the
market place is being challenged. Linux still may have a way to go,
but today it is, in our opinion, a serious alternative,
particularly in the business market…”
