Performance Computing: Xi Graphics’ maXimum cde

“As Linux muscles its way into large-scale commercial
environments, it needs a solid CDE. Here it is.”

“Recently, many commercial UNIX systems have adopted a common
desktop user interface called the Common Desktop Environment (CDE),
so it’s natural that a company like Xi Graphics would offer maXimum
cde for Linux. Similar to the earlier Hewlett-Packard VUE
environment, the CDE provides a common set of productivity
applications built on top of Motif and the X Window system.”

“Built on top of the X Window System, CDE includes a window
manager based on mwm (the Motif window manager) and session
control. On a CDE system, the session manager can save the state of
well-behaved applications, restarting them when you next log
in.”
