PRNewswire: SGI to Bring E-business Solution to Linux

“Following the announcement of the availability of IBM’s DB2
Universal Database with all Linux operating system-based SGI 1000
series servers, SGI today announced that IBM’s WebSphere
Application Server software will be available for the new SGI 1450
Linux OS-based server.
This next step in SGI’s and IBM’s
collaboration gives IBM additional distribution of its popular
database and e-business software in the Linux market and helps SGI
expand its e-business offerings.”

“Our ISP, medium-size and small Internet customers are looking
for completely integrated e-business solutions that enable them to
expand their business in what we call SGI Media Commerce —
transacting content over a vast range of networks,” said Greg
Estes, president and general manager, Broadband and Internet
Solutions, SGI. “IBM’s WebSphere combined with the SGI 1450 Linux
OS-based server and IBM DB2 Universal Database gives our customers
a powerful set of e-business tools.”

“WebSphere and DB2 on the SGI 1450 server further expand our
e-business reach into the Linux market where we’re able to provide
ISPs and NetGen companies a scalable and secure environment for
executing and managing pervasive service offerings,” said Steve
Mills, general manager, IBM Software Group.”
