GARNOME 0.19.3
GARNOME 0.19.3: "Smack's up!"
=============================
GARNOME - the bad-ass, bleeding edge GNOME distribution for testers and
tweakers everywhere. If you're dying to test the latest GNOME development
releases, but don't want to fall into the depraved addictions and
co-dependencies of testing from anonymous CVS, then GARNOME is for you.
[ In other words, GARNOME is a build tool for GNOME which includes the
developer platform and desktop releases, as well as a host of other kickarse
software. Everything is as easy to build as 'make install'. We call it a
'distribution' because it's sanity-tested and often patched before release,
for your convenience, enjoyment and testing pleasure! ;-) ]
What's New?
-----------
There is far, far too much to describe in this GARNOME. So much stuff!
Thanks to the crazy kids on garnome-list for helping me test the last few
hacking releases to make sure it's all up to snuff. ROCK ON!
* Updated to GNOME 2.1.3 unstable development release, and beyond!
* Fixed: GConf no longer forced to -j1, Sawfish updated to official 1.2
version.
* Changed: gnome-terminal is now VTE-only. A plague upon your zvt!
* New: SHITLOADS including: fontilus, nautilus-cd-burner,
gnome-system-tools, openbox, gtkmm, rhythmbox (returning to GARNOME),
bluefish, devilspie, drwright, firestarter, flink, galeon, mozilla,
hot-applet, led_applet, nautilus-media, netspeed_applet, pkgview,
startup-notification, gnome-power-tools meta garball. WOW!
* See the CVS ChangeLog for information about incremental updates between
0.18.3 and 0.19.3, lots of swearing, and great (but largely unpublished)
evangelism.
Where Do I Get It?
------------------
The tarball and documentation [1] are available on the GARNOME website:
http://www.gnome.org/~jdub/garnome/
Enjoy! :-)
- Jeff
[1] People who don't read the documentation tend to look pretty silly on
garnome-list and in #garnome.
