“Continuing to firm up its commitment to Linux, Hewlett Packard
Co. will announce a range of new products and services at the
LinuxWorld conference next week in New York. HP will
demonstrate its upcoming Linux system manageability software,
called ProcessResource Manager (or PRM) and ServiceControl Manager
(or SCM), at the conference, as well as two Web hosting
products, Netstructure 1010 and 1020, which are slated to
launch in March.”
“PRM and SCM are coming over from HP’s Unix environment and
offer proven enterprise-class system management functionality,”
said Mike Balma, director of marketing for HP’s Linux system
operations. …[and] HP will be announcing next week the
availability of Critical Systems Support for Linux clients. This
represents a commitment to deliver 24×7 runtime as well as advanced
planning services.”
“HP is also working “hand in glove” with MSC Software on
delivering Linux clusters. “We are a worldwide VAR of HP and
engaged with them at the sales level, pursuing real business
opportunities,” said Greg Sikes, a vice president at MSC.”
