“The trouble is, there isn’t really any software around
designed specifically for connecting Linux and Windows CE. Luckily,
Windows CE devices talk to the outside world using standard
protocols like PPP and TCP/IP, so a solution can be created
using standard Unix tools. Unluckily, the primary tool in this case
is the PPP daemon, pppd, which all experienced Linux users
recognize as an advanced test in black magic.”
“To make matters worse, configurations of Linux boxes vary
widely, as do the specific combinations of form factor, CPU and CE
version in a Windows CE device. Because of this, understand that
you may have to make a little black magic of your own to get things
working.”
“Because of the large number of variables, this article is more
anecdotal than some of our other tutorials. Rather than doing
exactly what I did, you may at times need to follow my lead but
modify the specifics slightly.”
