operating systems for several months now.Often, when I would create the updated edition, before the end
of the month so many new updates came out that customers would
still need to apply several updates after installing. Of course it
wasn’t nearly as bad as applying all the updates since the release,
but it still wasn’t quite as good as I would have liked.Optimally a completely up-to-date disc could be used which would
completely eliminate the need to apply updates when installed. Of
course this is what every one of us dreams of when installing an
OS, but when considering the time element involved at a Linux
Install-Fest, or when installing on several computers…this is
where it would be ultra-ideal.There are many Linux distributions that have a “Daily Build” of
their unstable version under development, but not of the current
stable release. At least not without using some sort of custom
build script that would need to build an installation ISO pretty
much from scratch. But the daily build model applied to the current
release seemed the best option, however when faced with downloading
329,000GB per year per item, and looking at doing 6 versions within
a months time suddenly we are looking at downloading 1,974,000GB
per year, which was just way to much to be comfortable comitting
to.The solution would be to keep a complete build and repository on
hand, and download only the updates on a daily basis, which was
similar to what we were already doing with the Updated
Editions.We are now able to ship a completely updated versions every day.
There might be an update or two released before arriving in the
mail, but you are assured that it is the most up-to-date
