“Peer to peer file sharing is nothing new nowadays; yet
BitTorrent has caused a degree of fuss about and interest in the
subject not seen since the early days of Napster. Why? It is
probably because it takes the peer to peer idea further. With
BitTorrent, the only resource that needs to reside on a central
machine or machines is the “torrent file”, which describes the file
or files to be shared. The file(s) themselves can be
anywhere…”
