LinuxPR: VistaSource and Red Hat Team Up for Rebate Offer

“VistaSource, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Applix, Inc.
(NASDAQ:APLX), announced today that it will join forces with Red
Hat, Inc. to offer customers a substantial rebate on the purchase
of VistaSource and Red Hat Linux products. Customers who purchase
Applixware Office for Linux v5.0 and Red Hat Standard 6.2 prior to
June 30, 2000 can submit their proof-of-purchase by mail to receive
a $25 rebate. The $25 rebate is a significant savings over the
suggested list price of the two products, $99 and $29 for
Applixware Office and Red Hat Standard 6.2, respectively. Customers
may purchase the featured products through retail stores and
various online resellers.”

Applixware Office for Linux v5.0 is VistaSource’s flagship
product, and the leading, full-featured, native office suite
available for Linux. When paired with the market-leading Red Hat
Standard 6.2 OS, the result is a fast, efficient and stable Linux
desktop solution at a fraction of the cost of Windows and Microsoft
Office.

“Organizations have realized the viability of Linux as a server
solution, and are now beginning to evaluate Linux for the desktop.
Early adopters of Linux on the desktop have experienced significant
productivity gains from the more stable operating environment and
have also benefitted from a reduced total cost of ownership, over
the deployment of the standard Microsoft solution,” stated RJ
Grandpre, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at
VistaSource.”
