LinuxWorld: SuSE readies new German release

“German Linux distributor SuSE GmbH next week will release SuSE
Linux 6.1, based on the updated Linux kernel approved by the
operating system’s creator, Linus Torvalds, back in January.”

“SuSE Linux 6.1, which becomes available April 19, incorporates
major improvements made to the open-source operating system with
its new kernel release, Linux 2.2, according to a statement from
SuSE, based in Nuremberg, Germany.”

“Some changes in the new release reflect the improvements in
Linux 2.2, such as symmetric multiprocessing — the operating
system’s ability to handle more than one processor at a time.”…”A
feature called advanced router options also gives Linux more
flexibility for use in computer networks. The new release also
includes support for infra-red interfaces.”
